Moraira Moraira, originally a small fishing village within the municipality of Teulada and the Coastal area of Benissa has grown into a popular holiday area within the last 25 years. Unlike the towns of Benidorm, Calpe and Javea which were developing large hotels in the 60’s because of their vast amounts of available, undeveloped flat land and wide sandy beaches, this stretch of mountainous coast line doesn't have a lot in the way of big hotels; but there are plenty apartments and private villas around. From its origins as a quaint fishing village with stunning views across to El Peñon de Ifach, the rock of Calpe, tourism is now its main industry whilst retaining much of the charm which has long attracted visitors and foreign residents. Moraira enjoys a typical subtropical Mediterranean climate, with cool sea breezes in summer and protected by surrounding mountains against the cold North winds in winter. The area averages nearly 3,000 hours of sunshine each year with the average temperature easily exceeding 20 degrees and on average it can boast 325 sunny days each year making it an ideal all year round destination! There is lots to do in the Moraira and Benissa area. It is a great place to indulge in water sports, with 2 blue flag beaches, several diving centres as well as 2 marinas you can easily find sailing, windsurfing and fishing activities. If you prefer terra firma then other activities and sports available in the area include cycling, riding, squash, carting and football. Costa Blanca is known as a golf lover’s paradise and along with the one in Benissa there are those near Altea, Denia, Javea and Calpe. The rugged mountains of the Costa Blanca offer a wonderful landscape of pinnacled ridges, enormous crags and shady pines provide some great hiking, trekking and walking trails and is another excellent way to take in the wonderful scenery, clear blue skies and great views out to sea many organised by the local councils or tourist information centres. With so much going on this is really a wonderful area for a memorable holiday.
Moraira Moraira’s centre still retains much of the original character and atmosphere and is blessed with a wide selection of stylish cafés within its pleasant streets. The main fish restaurants are located on the sea front overlooking the small port and fish market (La Lonja) where daily fish auctions take place. There is a weekly market on Fridays and there's another one every Wednesday in nearby Teulada. Teulada is actually the old town of Moraira and is well worth a visit to see Santa Catalina Church and the Divina Pastora Chapel amongst other things. Benissa also has its own market on Saturdays is a great place for shopping it has an atmospheric historic centre with an interesting museum and a well preserved 15th century market hall. The main beach in Moraira, Playa la Ampolla, and the nearby beach of El Portet both shelve gently into the sea making them a popular choice for families with children, whilst the busiest beach on Benissa’s 4 km coastline is Fustera, which has the coveted Blue Flag and excellent facilities for children; all have beach bars and restaurants offering snacks and drinks as well as a range of water sports, including wind surfing and sailing. We have 3 villas in Moraira. | | Altea Altea is one of the prettiest towns on the Costa Blanca with a palm- lined promenade and stylish marina on its seafront and the older, picturesque village centre perched above it. This beautiful, whitewashed village with cobbled streets is built on a hill between the sea and the mountain range inland and enjoys spectacular views towards the rock of Calpe. Seafood restaurants line the promenade which stretches along the main beach of Altea called Playa de la Roda where water skiing, diving and sailing are available. A popular haunt for artists, Altea boast several art galleries and shops and every evening during the summer months there is an art market in the village square. We have 1 villas in Altea. | | |
