Corralejo and Area
The area around the holiday resort of Corralejo is principally known for its world famous beaches. It consists of 10 kilometres of white sand beaches of breathtaking beauty which are backed by a system of romantic and stunning dunes. The beaches are renowned in the Canaries as they are unspoilt and un-commercialised. In some areas there are sun beds for rent, the very occasional beach bar and the further from the resort you go the more deserted the beach. This area of Fuerteventura now forms part of a National Park. The charming villages of El Cotillo, Lajares and La Oliva also form part of this area, in the northern tip of the island.
Corralejo A charming holiday resort which has grown from a quaint Canarian fishing village into one of the Canaries' favourite holiday destinations. It has a great deal to offer families, sports people and lovers of nature. The resort looks out to its neighbouring island of Lanzarote which can be reached by ferry from the harbour from where there are also various marine excursions. The town centre offers a superb range of holiday villas to rent, shops, bars and restaurants it also has a market, which is a great place to buy souvenirs and presents. A recently built, superb water park makes a wonderful day of fun for the younger guests. There are several beaches in the resort from small cove beaches, where the white sand contrasts with the black lava rocks to longer golden beaches sloping gently into the sea. Along the sea front, starting on the harbour wall, there are several bays with restaurants, cafes and bars overlooking the sea. The world famous and breathtakingly beautiful, Dunes Beaches start at the edge of Corralejo and stretch south for several kilometres of what seems like an eternity of white sand and rolling azure sea. The coastline of the resort is extremely popular with windsurfers and kitesurfers from all around the world and there are several schools in the area.
