Gozo
Known as the "The Island of Love and Honey", this tiny island has a lovely, Mediterranean climate, breathtaking scenery and ancient culture. For a relaxing holiday you could choose no better than this paradise where time has stood still and the locals welcome you with a smile. Measuring a mere 14km, (9 miles), long and 6km, (4 miles) wide, Gozo is steeped with history and culture and has succeeded in retaining much of its traditional way of life. The main activities on Gozo are fishing and farming although tourism is fast catching up.
The main holiday resort area is Marsalforn in the north followed by Xlendi, on the south west side of the island. Both areas have very small beaches, and the best beach on Gozo is Ramla Bay with its reddish sand, located on the north side. The shores around Gozo are renowned for water sports, in particular diving, and the underwater caves and wrecks are as varied as the landscape. The capital of Gozo is Victoria, (also known as Rabat), which is dominated by the ancient Citadel, a visit to which is considered a must for all visitors to the island. From the Citadel you can enjoy an unparalleled view of the whole island. In the centre of the capital is the square Piazza Indipendenza where you will find an open-air market every morning surrounded by busy pavement cafes. Just off of the main square is the magnificent St. George's Basilica.
There are numerous excursions one can take including trips to the neighbouring tiny island of Comino with its crystal clear lagoons, Malta or even to Sicily. The properties we offer are nearly all renovated country farmhouses built in the traditional mellow limestone and many have beautiful internal courtyards. They are situated in the picturesque villages around this tiny Mediterranean island and are brimming with rustic charm. They are all close to local amenities but far enough away to enjoy the tranquillity of Gozitan life. All are decorated traditionally with pine furniture and all have private swimming pools. Gozo is rarely crowded, so for those looking for a action-packed holiday this is not the place. However if you are interested in a hospitable welcome, a chance to walk, cycle or drive along quiet country lanes enjoying superb coastal scenery, then this is the place for you.
