Mahon

Mahon Villas
Mahon lies to the far east of Menorca and has an attractive harbour that winds its way through the cliffs and on through the centre of the city and is lined with several restaurants, bars and shops. Renamed as the capital of Menorca in the early 1700’s by the British, Mahon still retains a colonial feel which is evident in the Georgian architecture. An open air market is held on Tuesdays and Saturdays mainly for the locals selling fresh fruit and vegetables and locally caught fish. Along the coast are some unbeatable views from different points of the city as well as the surrounding area. Many developments such as Cala Llonga are steeped in the cliffs, surrounding small coves looking over to the port of Mahon. From here some points of interest can be explored such as the fortress of Isabel II “La Mola” and the natural park of Es Grau. Heading south the scenery changes and several resorts with wonderful beaches can be found. This beautiful region of Menorca is a perfect holiday destination for the entire family as the island accommodates widely for children as well as adults. There is a good selection of quality accommodation in the surrounding areas including villas and apartments. Punta Prima is the furthest south, its lighthouse standing out on the “island of air” ( Illa de l’Aire). Along the coast is the peaceful villa resort of Binibeca with its picturesque fishing village. The south of Menorca is lined with several resorts such as St. Tomas and Son Bou, which has a small waterpark, Los Delfines Aquapark, offering a wide range of activities and facilities for a memorable family holiday
