Manilva and Area

The region of Manilva encompasses a number of quieter and lesser known beach and golf resorts west of Marbella on the Costa del Sol which have become firm favourites for many who return year after year. La Duquesa, flanked on either side by sandy beaches, is a smart yachting marina lined with bars and restaurants serving local and international cuisine. A stroll west along the beachfront promenade brings you to the more traditional Andalucian village of Castillo de la Duquesa, where there are some excellent restaurants serving fresh, locally caught fish. Ten minutes to the east is Sabinillas, a less romantic Spanish town but nonetheless home to its share of sandy beach, azure seas and a promenade lined with restaurants and bars. A short drive away is the exclusive Sotogrande marina, where favourite past-times naturally include yachting and golf but also polo.
Manilva benefits from its proximity to Gibraltar and serves as a commuter zone for workers on the over-populated Rock, meaning many restaurants and bars remain open throughout the winter. Manilva is also a gateway to authentic Andalucian towns and villages such Jerez de la Frontera, famous for its centuries old sherry bodegas and the Royal Andalucian Riding School where you can marvel at the magnificent "dancing" Andalucian horses; "seafood crazy" Cadiz, also host of the largest fiesta in Spain each February; the "pueblos blancos", or "white towns", of Andalucia such as Casares, Ronda, Jimena de la Frontera, Arriate and Setenil, each somehow surviving centuries perched precariously on the mountainsides that overhang the plunging gorges of the Serriana de Ronda until today, when they offer their own glimpse of a fascinating, ancient history in their cave-paintings, their bell-ringing rituals and their Roman ruins. This is the Andalucia of Moorish palaces, of flamenco dancers and matadors and the legends that surround them, and of a rich, deep and diverse history that cannot fail to fire the imagination.
Casares Beach
Casares beach is located just off the main coastal road between Estepona and Sabinillas. It is set on a peaceful hillside opposite the sea. There are two restaurants situated directly on the beach. One is a typical Chiringuito that serves Spanish food and the other is a more exclusive restaurant with large sun beds. Supermarkets and banks are only a five-minute drive into the next village. A charming green grocer on the road between the Coast and Manilva who buys directly from the farmers, sells local products at very cheap prices. The small marina of Duquesa, east of Sabinillas, is only a ten minute drive away and offers a choice of international restaurants and bars. There are also several great golf courses in the vicinity. On the way into the mountains are several roadside restaurants, which are known as Ventas. They range from rustic to more elegant and serve lunch as well as dinner. The white- washed, inland village of Casares is fifteen kilometers away. We have 2 villas in Casares Beach.

A ten minute stroll to the west along the beach brings you to the more authentically Andalucian Castillo de la Duquesa, where restaurants serve fresh, locally caught fish and seafood. Duquesa, and the more exclusive marina of Sotogrande to the west, are also a gateway to Gibraltar and to authentic western Andalucian towns and villages such Jerez de la Frontera, home of sherry and the Royal Andalucian Riding School, Cadiz, famous for the largest fiesta in Spain, and the "pueblos blancos", the "white towns"of Andalucia such as Casares, Ronda and Arriatel, which perch precariously over the plunging gorges of the Serriana de Ronda.
