Andalucia
One of Andalucía's main distinctions is its astonishing diversity of landscapes. The glorious, sandy beaches of Costa de la Luz on the unspoilt Atlantic coast, are amongst the best in all of Europe and are backed by the wildlife sanctuary of Coto Doñana National Park. The beautiful Costa del Sol is on the sweeping Mediterranean coastline set against the imposing mountain backdrop of the Sierras. The snow-capped peaks of the majestic Sierra Nevada are only an hour’s drive or so from the coast and beyond lie vast open plains, where the terrain serves as a reminder of the proximity of the African continent. Throughout the province, the landscape is punctuated with picturesque, white villages with snaking narrow streets whilst some of the most mesmerising cities in Spain such as Seville and Cadiz, act as a further incentive to go out and explore. Under the burning Andalucían sun lie the magnificent remains of the civilisation of Moorish 'Al Andaluz'. Ronda is one of Andalucia's loveliest towns, steeped in history and retains all of its traditional charm. It is perched on a towering plateau in the mountains of Malaga province and is famous throughout Spain for having the oldest bullring in Spain. Málaga is the major coastal city of Andalucia and is a genuine and typical Andaluz city full of culture and is home to Pablo Picasso. Occupied by the Moors until the mid fifteenth century, it became one of the main Spanish merchant centres. Nowadays it is a modern city with visitors and holiday makers using it as the main gateway to the Costa Del Sol.
