San Jose San Jose itself is a pretty town with a lot of charm located in the foothills of the Sa Talaia Mountain (475 metres high). It is a peaceful, relaxing place away from the hustle and bustle of the busy coastal resorts. This quaint Ibithenco village is dominated by its fortress church which dates back to the 15th Century, but took 300 years to complete! Local village life is centred round the pedestrian area that surrounds the 15th century church where you’ll find several boutiques, a pharmacy, banks, cafes and restaurants; you can buy everything here from a beach mat or a traditional basket to a designer outfit, to groceries. However, the bright lights of San Antonio and the hippy chic atmosphere of Ibiza Town are only a 20 minutes drive away. The nearest beaches to San Jose are Cala Vedella, Cala Conta and Cala Bassa and are some of the best in this part of Ibiza having been awarded with the European Blue flag. Cala Vadella A scenic drive from San Jose leads to the beautiful bay of Cala Vadella on the west coast of the island. This small holiday resort can be accessed from both sides with the main street winding its way down to a beautiful protected bay which is surrounded by pine clad hills. The sweeping beach of fine white sand slopes gently into shallow sparkling waters close to shore and is ideal for families with young children. This sheltered bay is a popular anchoring spot for private yachts and motorboats, which often gather there to watch the stunning sunset. A few beach restaurants line the bay and there is a small mini-market. The waters around Cala Vadella are well known for scuba diving and there are two diving schools on the beach as well as pedaloes, jet-skis and wind-surf boards for hire. Cala Conta This area of the island is relatively unpopulated compared to other areas and is great for total relaxation and getting away from it all although at the same time the town of San Jose and the resort of San Antonio are only a short drive away. Closer to your villa you will find San Augustin, a tiny village, boasting one local bar open in the evenings and a mini-market. This little hilltop hamlet is dominated by an imposing church and the surrounding countryside is picturesque and un-spoilt , covered with olive, almond and carob trees. The village stands a couple of kilometres off of the main road midway between San Jose and San Antonio, leaving it completely unspoilt. The beach of Cala Conta itself has no residential areas nearby and so can only be reached by car or boat. It is one of the best beaches in Ibiza with the most beautiful scenery and sparkling, azure waters ideal for swimming and snorkelling. We have 1 villas in Cala Conta. | |
Cala Salada Cala Salada is a beautiful and very popular cove located just north of San Antonio. It has two beaches separated by rocks, into which fishermen's boathouses have been built which are typical of the island. The larger of the two beaches has a beach bar and restaurant which both enjoy great sunset views. The smaller and quieter northern beach offers late afternoon shade and a more remote feel. Many yachts moor in this bay and this tends to be very popular with locals and tourists alike. As the area is not accessible by public transport the only way to get here is car, scooter or private yacht! San Antonio near by is where you will find the nearest supermarkets, shops and restaurants as well as the infamous Café del Mar where people flock to see the spectacular sunsets and hear chilled out tunes whilst sipping cool cocktails.
