AmenitiesCasa Ramada is situated in a popular location with those that love the coastline and amenities around Carvoeiro and prefer a more rural and private place to relax. Ideal for spending mornings exploring the myriad coves along this coastline, afternoons by the pool and letting the men show off their barbecue skills in the evenings. Within 2km is the Val del Rei spa resort, its spa facilities are open to the public and there is a fine restaurant and cafe bar beside the huge pool. There are several more restaurants locally with a better choice heading towards the centre of Carvoeiro or alternatively the nearby resort of Senora da Rocha. Carvoeiro is particularly well known for its beaches, the rocky coastline has been eroded over time into a series of stunning sandy coves, breathtakingly beautiful but please access with care and sensible footwear. Many of the beaches also have snack bars for a drink or light lunch. Within a short drive are Albandeira and the stunning Marinha beach with its distinctive rock stacks, both have snack bars. Over to the west, where the calm waters of the River Arade meet the sea and separate Carvoeiro from Portimao is Ferragudo. Ferragudo is about 4km from Carvoeiro centre and is a resort in its own right and a well known location for a wide range of water-sports. Between here and the town are many smaller coves, accessible only on foot (or by boat), namely Currais, Lapa and Paraiso and those closer to the town are within easy reach of Clube Carvoeiro. On the Eastern side of town, some the beaches have been a little more developed mainly by hotels, Almanzor and Centiannes are definitely worth a visit. Beyond Rocha Brava and the lighthouse (Farol) is Smuggler's beach, also known as Carvalho, it's reached by a cliff path that cuts through the rock in a series of tunnels. Like most of the Algarve, golf courses abound, The Carvoeiro Country Club centres around the Grammacho and Pinta courses near to Lagoa, as well as Vale do Milho, a challenging 9-hole course with a great clubhouse. There are tennis centres in Clube Carvoeiro and Rocha Brava and a riding centre, water-sports at Ferragudo to the west. Waterparks are popular in the Algarve, the nearest is Slide and Splash, a smaller park between Lagoa and the Country Club. Several other parks are along the EN 125 heading towards Faro. Also worth a visit is the Zoo-Marine park with rides, animal shows and the opportunity to swim with dolphins, located just west of Guia on the EN 125. There are several boat trips available in the Carvoeiro area, exploring the fantastic coastline and stopping at exotic beaches. Perhaps the most memorable day out and under sail is aboard Santa Bernada - a replica caravelle, which departs from the old sardine pier in Portimao on weekdays.
