For a taste of the authentic, old Crete Villa Ambrose (with separate annex available for larger groups) has been sympathetically restored to preserve its 300 years of history whilst guests can enjoy all of the conveniences of modern living. Set within its own charming, rustic gardens with views to the stunning countryside around, this is the ideal choice for those searching for peace, tranquility and a slower pace of life within easy reach of all the amenities and treasures this fascinating area of Crete has to offer.

Interior

Main villa
A feature of this villa is the care that has been taken to preserve original stone and woodwork and this is evident in the open-plan living, dining and kitchen area which has been cosily refurbished and restored to provide an ideal place to unwind after a day exploring the countryside that surrounds this delightful villa. In true Cretan style, the dining area has seating, fireplace and TV and is the main focal point of the villa for family and friends to come together and enjoy a meal and an evening's relaxation. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything necessary for a self-catering holiday and has a separate utility area and further seating. An open-plan, wooden staircase leads to the upper level where there are three bedrooms, all with air conditioning. The master bedroom has a double bed and en suite shower room. The further double and twin bedrooms share two shower rooms.
Annex
The annex is available for larger parties of 7 and more and shares the pool and garden areas with the main villa. The open-plan living and kitchenette area has again been sympathetically restored to preserve the original features of the building whilst incorporating all of the modern conveniences necessary for a comfortable and relaxing villa holiday and includes a cosy seating area with open fireplace. The annex has two mezzanine bedrooms, accessed by two wooden staircases, which overlook the living area. The main bedroom has a double bed and en suite shower room. The further twin bedroom has use of a bathroom on the ground floor. The annexe will be available for parties of over six people. For an extra charge it can be made available for smaller parties. Please note that the annexe cannot be reserved separately and can only be booked in conjunction with the villa.
The villas have internet access.

Exterior

The exterior areas of Villas Ambrose include gardens, terraces and a pool area which have been designed to make the most of the spectacular views and delightful, tranquil surroundings. The rectangular 5 x 10m swimmiing pool is accessed by integral steps and is only 0.4m deep at the shallow end and there is a children's play area with wendy house. The secluded gardens combine semi-formal and rustic areas in which to relax amongst the aromas of citrus and olive trees. There is a built-in barbecue and ample patio furniture at which to enjoy al fresco dining. The villas have a private parking area with gated access.

Amenities

The peaceful village of Roustika has a traditional taverna serving local dishes and a small supermarket. The tavernas and shops of the village of Agios Konstantinos are only 2km away. Roustika is an ideal base from which to explore this beautiful region either on foot or by car, and there are beaches to the north and the south only half an hour's drive in either direction. The historic town of Rethymno, with its bustling nightlife centred around the charming Venetian Old Town and port is only a 25 minute drive away. The region is reknowned for its watersports, hiking, climbing and horse-riding and visitors can choose to be as active or as relaxed as they wish. The beautiful countryside is studded with archeaological and architectural treasures dating back centuries and villages and hamlets whose tranquil way of life can be traced back almost as long.
