| | Rating:  (as rated by 2 recent visitors) | This unique, Ibithenco style country villa has been renovated in a mixture of old and new, combining nature with modern appliances. It has large gardens and several terraces overlooking the valley down to San Jose.
InteriorThe villa is dominated by typical Spanish whitewashed walls and wooden beams. The living room is open plan to the kitchen and dining area with a large fireplace at its centre. A few steps lead up into another living room with Satellite TV and DVD with access to one of the terraces. The unique kitchen has been designed with an eclectic mix of modern appliances along with natural materials and has access to the terrace and pool area. The villa has three bedrooms in the main house and another three in Los Corales. One bedroom has a double bed and is located on a mezzanine floor overlooking the second living room with access to a large roof top terrace overlooking the valley. The other two bedrooms are located on the ground floor and share a shower room. Both have double beds and direct access to the garden. There is another bathroom with a separate toilet located on the ground floor which also has direct access to the garden and utility room. Down from the main house, next to the pool are several small cabanas which have been built of stone. The Ibicenco call these Los Corales - the stables. Each has a separate bedroom with a double bed in it and for convenience there is a separate shower room for all to share.
ExteriorVilla Gekko has several terraces with built-in dining tables. One is located between the kitchen and the second living room and provides a more shaded area in the morning. The 14 x 4 metre pool is bordered by a large sun deck terrace for extra comfort. Elevated a little from this terrace is another dining table with a built-in sitting area laid out with comfortable thick cushions, overlooking the pool and the valley. There is also an outside shower.
AmenitiesThis villa is ideal for nature lovers. It is located 2 kilometres up an unmade track from the main road. Surrounded by rolling hills and pine clad valleys, San Jose offers a peaceful retreat from which to enjoy the lovely Ibithenco climate. A small local supermarket is close-by, although in the nearby town of San Jose, which is 5.7 kilometres away from the villa, there are several excellent local restaurants, tapas bars, trendy boutiques and shops which surround the church in the centre as well as a pharmacy and a bank. Just 9 kilometres to the west will bring you to one of the many family friendly beaches in pretty bays for which Ibiza is famous; Cala Vadella. A little further away are the slightly trendier beaches of Cala Bassa and Cala Conta, which offer water sport activities and have a beach restaurants. The ultra chic Las Salinas and the clothing optional Es Cavallet beaches are also just 20 minutes drive from the villa. Cosmopolitan Ibiza Town is approximately 20 kilometres away where traditional shops sit alongside more sophisticated boutiques and where holidaymakers can rub shoulders with celebrities.
ServicesFor guests staying longer then seven nights there is a weekly maid service. In August it is rented out for 4 weeks only. Clients are required to pay a refundable security deposit of €10,000 to the local manager upon arrival.
